Day Services Program

Our Day Services Program is a participant-driven program that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness. The program is designed to develop, maintain and increase or maximize independence. Multiple outings are scheduled each week to provide opportunities for community integration. Programming is ongoing and takes place 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday – Friday. This program is currently held in South Des Moines and Johnston. 

 

Program Activities:

  • Structured activities that foster acceptance, build self-esteem and improve social skills
  • Crafts, fitness, games and music programming
  • Bi-monthly classes conducted on socialization, anger and stress management, increasing independence and health and wellness
  • Restaurant and shopping outings to enhance financial and social skills
  • Volunteer opportunities in the community

 

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a diagnosed intellectual disability or mental illness
  • Candidates need to be able to self-medicate and perform activities of daily living independently
  • Candidates must not exhibit behavior that is harmful to themselves or others
